CASE MANAGER (LAS VEGAS)
Cornell Companies, a leader in private corrections, is looking for a full time Case Manager for its Las Vegas Community Corrections facility. Las Vegas Community Correction Center is contracted with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Probation, and Federal Pre-trial Services.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, provide support and structure to residents in developing program plans to assist the offender in re-entry into the community.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Although it is not possible to provide an exhaustive list of all types of duties, responsibilities and performance standards, the following are the essential job functions:
1. Prepare written personalized program for each resident to establish measurable criteria of expected behavior and accomplishment and a time frame for achieving specified goals. Review plan with resident on a bi-weekly basis.
2. Assist resident in establishing a personal budget, locate suitable housing, and participation in family and community activities, as appropriate, to ensure they are working towards financial independence.
3. Orient residents upon arrival at facility to provide smooth assimilation into program.
4. Verify passes and may conduct home inspections.
5. Conduct new resident orientations as required.
6. Working with other community resources, assist resident with employment, housing, drug and alcohol counseling, medical issues, etc.
7. May make calls to employee weekly to verify work progress.
8. Make entries in resident files regarding employment contacts.
9. Complete paperwork in a timely manner.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or Criminal Justice. 5 years experience working with offenders in an institutional or halfway house setting may be substituted for education.
KNOWLEDGE:
Familiar with community corrections systems and current community corrections practices.
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Able conduct individual counseling sessions and facilitate small groups; interface with outside agencies. Write clear reports in English, using correct grammar. Able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages. Ability to effectively interface with residents and staff supervise residents and react quickly and appropriately in an emergency situation.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Personal vehicle available for company use.
2. Valid driver’s license and insurance for state in which facility is located.
3. Must pass background check and drug test.
This hourly position will start at $14.57 hr. and could reach $17.50 hr. depending on the health benefit package you elect. The company offers Health, 401K, and Three (3 ) weeks a year of paid time off.
