Do you know today’s youth/young adult cultures? Can you use marketing strategies to shift youth/young adult cultures away from tobacco–use? Do you have the vision and experience to lead innovative tobacco prevention marketing campaigns? Do you want your work to contribute to positive social change? Then this is for you.
A motivated, creative, and energetic Culture Change Specialist is sought to oversee the management of three award-winning tobacco prevention campaigns: XPOZ™ (for 13 – 26 year-olds that identify with alternative rock culture), Urban Fuel™ (for 18 – 26 year-olds that identify with the party/club/bar scene), and Crush™ (for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender 16 – 26 year-olds) as well as a new youth engagement effort. In addition, this individual would be responsible for office management duties at RSCG’s Las Vegas office.
All three campaigns are based on RSCG’s proprietary Social Branding® strategy. Social Branding® focuses on changing behavior (ie: reducing smoking) through culture change. Rather than communicate health education, Social Branding® prioritizes associating higher risk subcultures with healthy behaviors, such as making smokefree sexy (for young adult partiers) and rebellious (for alternative rock). This is achieved through carefully planned events and secondary experiences such as web, print, direct mail, advertising, and fashion that associate the ideal lifestyle of these young people with the behavior of not smoking.
The Culture Change Specialist’s responsibilities include:
- Direct, guide and motivate local staff working on various culture change campaigns;
- Collaborate with RSCG leadership on campaign strategies and progress measures;
- Direct and collaborate with RSCG team members supporting each campaign, such as graphic design, web design, promoters, street team, writers, and programmers;
- Support and oversee the planning and execution of various nighttime events, requiring this person to work multiple evenings per month on both weeknights and/or weekends, including event promotions, entertainment planning, decorating, negotiating with venues, and experiential marketing;
- Implement strategies to encourage quitting tobacco use within each target market;
- Support and oversee the development and execution of secondary strategies for each campaign, such as direct mail, websites, advertising, street marketing, and fashion;
- Monitor staffs writing and communication skills to ensure professionalism;
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on campaign progress to RSCG staff and client.
