As the VMware/Storage Engineer of this fast paced environment, you will be responsible for the technical design, integration and troubleshooting of the VMware ESX 3.5 and VMware VSphere 4 systems.

Responsibilities:
• End-to-end accountability for all matters related to the company’s VMware and Storage Infrastructure
• Plan, acquire, direct, coordinate and execute the strategic and tactical design, integration, installation, and connectivity of new or enhanced virtualization or storage technologies
• Provide constant updates to management regarding problem resolution and availability of mission critical systems
• Work on site or remotely (over the phone) and must be available on a 7×24x365 basis for systems support/consultation
• Provide training on specific environment to other IT staff as required
• Monitors load and storage utilization on all virtualization and storage platforms and makes regular capacity planning recommendations to IT management
• Establish, and monitor for compliancy, best practices, policies and procedures (SOPs) for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting
• Identifies gaps and deficiencies to ensure the appropriate operational processes are implemented to sustain and improve upon
• Manage the backup strategy and its operation with regard to virtualization technology and storage in general, utilizing all associated features of the storage environment, as necessary
• Designs and implements the Virtual Desktop infrastructure
• Monitors and maintains the proper replication of data between the data centers
• Designs, recommends, schedules and controls Problem and Systems Change Management execution ensure operational efficiency, reliability and technical coherency
• Provide third-level support when incidents (outages/service interruptions or failures) are detected, manage resolution of service delivery—escalate issues, lead service recovery teams, ensure that root cause analysis is conducted post-recovery
• Maintain knowledge of current OS and patch levels of all virtualization and storage platforms
• Performs regular testing of failover, redundancy, and replication technologies in use
• Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executables, and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans

Skills/Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years of related work experience with one to three years related work experience in casino, hospitality and/or banking or entertainment industry or other high volume, complex, demanding customer oriented IT environment
• Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science from four-year college or university preferred
• Must have expert technical design, integration, and troubleshooting knowledge of the VMware ESX 3.5 and VMware VSphere 4
• VMware Certified Professional 3 (VCP4 preferred), VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) preferred, NetApp Certified Data Management Administrator preferred, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred
• Must have extensive knowledge and experience managing and operating a large-scale SAN environment, preferably on NetApp or EMC platforms
• Experience in design and development of highly-available, multi-site, replicated environments required
• Must be able to conduct research into systems, issues and products and adjust to new developments in hardware, software and operating systems and their offerings
• Possess analytical and proactive problem solving skills
• 3+ years experience directly managing and maintaining medium-to-large scale, multi-site VMware implementations
• Proven experience leading cross divisional change projects
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN environments and protocols
• IT Architecture and project management experience an asset
• General understanding of other computer systems outside area of specialty such as other operating systems or database software
• Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation & interpersonal skills
